Development Education Centres
DECs, or Development Education Centres, were set up in the early 1970s in response to increasing public interest in development issues and concern about global inequality.
There is now a national network of DECs throughout UK, accredited through the Development Education Association (DEA)and they have three primary functions:
- to provide an accessible resource centre for educationalists to use
- to run an enquiries service and provide informal support to development education perspectives and issues
- to provide training and programme support to deliverers of education
