Episode 1: Water Is Life

Part i):	There is no clean water in the market place. The market women unite against the councillor Mr. Mabuki.
	Bernadette harangues the maid.
	Hope takes her daughter Diana to her father Karis who, subsequently, is late taking Diana to school.
	Mr. Mulani has pushed his wife the former headmistress over the waterfall at the end of last series. The police are trying to find him.
	Cheryl wants to talk wedding plans with Karis.

	Red meets Toni the maid in the internet café.
Part ii):	The Council tries to dismantle the market women’s stalls, but they fight them off. Anna accuses Cheryl of being a traitor.
	The barbers are painting the exterior of their shop.

	Bernadette finds Toni, her maid, in the internet café; she’s furious and fires her.
	Red is going through a crisis (her mother is recently dead). PP gives her a basket of fruits, but she rejects them.

Episode 2: A Tickling Upstairs

Episode 3: A Remedy of Grievances

	The market women take their children to Doctor Charles with Washington.

Part ii):	Washington is told by Doctor Charles that he shouldn’t treat children himself. It is likely that Thomas has TB and cough mixture is not appropriate treatment. Episode 4: The Score

	Snake comes out of the hair salon, Anna goes in. Small Sharon tells Anna that they no longer want to buy her maize porridge (Snake has told them that Josiah has an infectious disease..). Anna is ostracised from the barbershop too.

Episode 5: Big Decisions

	Mrs. Mabuki makes it clear that she doesn’t approve of Mama Mboga standing for parliament. Tells her of all the onerous things she has to do and how much it will cost. Mama Mboga gets worried.
Part ii):	Dodgy hairdresser is speechlessly in love with Toni.
	Mama Mboga is about to give up. Talks to Hope. She feels very uncomfortable in smart clothes and doesn’t want to go to Nairobi. She tells Hope she should take over campaign.
	Barbers laugh about how best to woo Toni. Dodgy gives her some flowers. She’s alarmed.
	Margaret challenges Matano that he’s spending too much time with Cheryl. He says it’s nothing and he gives her a present. They make up.
	Graduation Day for the adult literacy class. Dr. and Madame Pendo have a little scratch at each other. Mama Mboga tells everyone that she is standing down as MP and handing over to Hope (Chief). Hope says she is standing down as chief and is recommending Mr. Matano for acting chief.
	Bernadette scolds her daughter for standing as an MP – she’s a woman!	Women leaders	Social Justice
	Dog is making up to Toni. She asks if Bill has a girlfriend!
	Karis is late for the graduation. He meets Hope and says she is standing for MP because she is jealous of him and Cheryl. She denies it, but they end up kissing..Matano sees.

Episode 6: Cards on the Table

Part i):	It’s the day of Karis and Cheryl’s wedding…
	The market women’s stalls have been knocked down by the Council for Road Construction.
	Madame Pendo and Dr. Charles continue their quarrel (humourously).
	Hope tells the market women that their stalls are on a road reserve. Matano tells Hope that she hasn’t informed them and has left it too late for them to relocate. Hope is very angry with Mr. Mabuki. Mr. Matata (fat MP) arrives in 4X4 vehicle. He insists that the council must give notice to stall owners and promises to refund the market women from his own pocket. He also says if they vote for him again, the council will never come back! 	Dr. Charles confides in Maspeedy and agrees that he should start charming Mama Pendo
	Mr. Matata tells Mr. Mabuki that he has not looked after the market women’s interests and that he has learned that Mr. Mabuki is standing as MP against him.
	Dr. Washington makes an advance on Mama Pendo.
	Matano comes in to Cheryl as she is in her wedding gown and says he must have a word with her…
Part ii):	Matano tells Cheryl that he has seen Karis kissing Hope and that Cheryl should not marry Karis yet, but should pursue her course. Karis comes in and is impatient. He says he’s only marrying Cheryl in order to get a “respectable” wife, but then takes this back.
	Mr. Mabuki challenges a journalist who has written bad stories about him. His wife makes Toni and Sharon wear t-shirts advocating her husband.
	Bishop Washington makes a further advance on Mama Pendo in the church. Dr. Charles makes his peace with her too.
	Everyone comes together for the wedding, including Matata. The salon girls don’t want to wear Mabuki t-shirts, for fear of being beaten up.
	The ceremony takes place and Cheryl gives her ring back to Karis and runs out of the church – much to everyone’s shock. Is Matata somehow involved..??

Episode 7: Double Matata

Part i):	Washington is infatuated with Madame Pendo. Brian comes to report that some children have been chased from the forest by some men.
	Mr. Shah insists that Karis pays him for goods.
	Washington and Pendo go into the forest to rescue the injured child. They meet a worker who says that the forest will be cut down on Mr. Matata’s orders (MP) to grow cassava. Jim Were is hiding behind a tree and hears what’s going on.	Forest management	Geography 1.6 Sustainable Development

	Washington is jealous of Dr. Charles and Pendo who are meeting this evening for dinner. He tells Pendo that the doctor thinks she is running the school badly.
	PP and Maspeedy tell Mr. Shah that he should stop supplying Karis’s supermarket with packaged milk. Karis approaches Snake for Ksh50,000 (he owes to Mr. Shah).
	Washington and Pendo go to acting chief Mr. Matano, to complain of the quarry that is about to be opened too near to the school. Mr. Matata is behind the quarry idea and Pendo is going to fight him.	Environmental protection	Geography 1.6 Sustainable Development
	Stella has got a reply from the “boy” on-line.
Part ii):	Washington and the barbers are gambling. Karis joins them as he needs money, and then Snake. Hope arrives and they pretend they are meeting to form a self-help group. Stella and Kara go to Sharon’s and Toni’s to have their hair done.
	Karis approaches his mother for money.
	The market women are divided about the benefits of the quarry. Hope says that the village has the right to go to the District Environment Committee and complain. Their license could be taken away. 	Karis approaches Matano for a loan. He says no, but that the market women might be able to help. Karis is embarrassed.

	Stella and Kara get their hair done and get dressed up for meeting the on-line dating boy. They drink spirits.
	Pendo, Mama Mboga and Matano go to Matata to challenge him about the legalities of the quarry. He insists he has done things by the book and has all the right legalities in place.
	Kara and Stella are drunk – Stella goes home in the dark.

Episode 8: Bobby is Back

Episode 9: Measure for Measure

	KK asks Sharon about Mabuki; she says that Mabuki lost people’s confidence when the market stalls were destroyed. Sharon thinks she will become KK’s wife. Hope Baraka is also standing for MP, as is Matata. PP tells KK that he should not open a milk processing plant as it will destroy local enterprise. He says OK.
	Doctor Charles tells Mama Mpima that he needs to take hair specimens etc. of the rapist. She can’t shower yet. He also says she needs to go on ARVs for 28 days in case she has contracted HIV and also a contraceptive pill. He praises her on coming to tell him what’s happened. She’s distraught. 	Red and Kara are in the café talking about their father and his innocence. Stella comes in and shouts at Kara that she is responsible for Mama Mpima’s rape. Mr. Matano tries to catch Bobby, but he leaves town.

	The market women are gossiping about Mama Mpima; Mr. Matano comes and tells them off. This should be sensitive. 	Maspeedy tells KK what he thinks of him. Matata is buying everyone drinks at the bar. Matata is presented with an injunction by Hope that stops him felling trees for his quarry. Episode 10: Power of a Woman

Karis goes and then she is jumped on by a man in a hoodie who says she should stop meddling in politics, if she cares about her daughter.. 	Matano catches Snake defacing posters of all the candidates in bar Matata. Different political rallies are going on for KK, Matata, Mubaki and Hope. Campaigning begins in earnest. Hope tells Matata that he can’t send people to intimidate her. PP is backing KK; Bernadette says it’s wrong for him not to support his sister, Hope. 	Candidates give their speeches. KK is boo-ed off. Matata says KK has disrespected the older members of the community. Snake passes out bribes to the crowd as Matata makes his speech so everyone leaves by the time Mubaki and Hope get to speak.
Part ii):	Brian and Diana go missing. Diana’s in the forest. The grown ups start a search party in the forest. Karis berates Hope for not telling him when she was pregnant with Diana. Bernadette and Crystal also have a slanging match.
	Snake is about to be arrested for disrupting the campaign on behalf of Matata.	Bribes in politics	Citizenship 1.1, 1.2,
	Hope accuses Matata of being illegal in taking the children and hurting them. PP decides to support Hope.
	Matano punishes Snake by telling him he is to come and live with Matano and Margaret for a week, to socialise him!

Episode 11: Hopes and Dreams

Part i):	PP and Red meet and she tells him that her father’s case is soon to be heard and that there is a fair chance he will be acquitted of murder. She confesses that it’s been tough, especially making ends meet.
	Hope lies to Diana, saying her father isn’t coming today. Karis finds out. She is cross that he lost Diana the week before and she doesn’t want Karis to see her anymore.
	Pendo decides to find out why Freddie is absent from school.

	PP sees a photo competition in the papers sponsored by Matata to win Ksh50,000. He shows it to Red who is persuaded to enter.
	Washington confesses to Maspeedy that he wants to propose marriage to Pendo.
	Pendo goes to the Otieno household to see if she can trace Freddie. She finds him force-feeding his younger brother, Sammy, who is tied to a tree.	Child mental disorder

Part ii):	Karis repays loan to Anna and Margaret. They give it back, saying his father has already paid it!
	Dog is still pursuing Toni.

	Karis tells his father that he doesn’t want him to pay his debts.
	Dr Charles tells Mrs. Otieno that her son is not bewitched, but suffering from Attention Deficit Hyper- Disorder and can be treated with drugs. The mother can’t believe that Sammy could go to school like other children. Pendo asks the doctor if he will report her. He says not and that he thinks a lot of her. 	PP and Red wonder if they could enter Mrs. Otieno’s story into the competition.

Episode 12: Scales of Justice

	Toni offers to help Maspeedy mend his bike and then offers to help PP on the shamba. She asks how she should impress a certain man (Bill). PP advises she should be dressed less like a tom-boy.
	The tribunal commences against Matata and his quarry.
	Pendo gets roasted by Matata’s lawyer. He also accuses Hope of resisting the quarry because Matata is her political opponent.
	Dodgy has a make-over!
	Back to the Tribunal and an ex representative of NEMA (National Environment Management Authority) speaks, saying that the negative environmental impact of the quarry has been overlooked so far. Part ii)	Karis supports the quarry as he thinks it will bring employment to the area.

	Toni gets Red to help her look more womanly.
	Matata bribes the judge with KSH200,000/ (=£1,500). She accepts the bribe.	Bribery and corruption
	Red asks the barber boys to take her and Toni out for a date. They accept.
	The ruling is given and the Judge goes in favour of prosecution.
	Matata is livid. The Judge then plays the court a recording she got on her mobile phone of Matata bribing her. She is going to get the Kenyan Anti-Corruption Commission on to this – polititicians like him is what undermines the democratic process. 	Karis watches from the sidelines Red and Toni’s date with the barber boys in the bar. He sees Toni storming out as Bill doesn’t fancy her and PP follows her (as Red is being pursued by Bill). Karis hears PP saying to Toni that he adores her. Everyone ends up dancing in celebration of Matata’s defeat.

Episode 13: Mystery Hand

	Maspeedy tells Washington that Dr Charles And Pendo are arguing.
Part ii):	Snake bribes the barbers and Josiah to vote for Matata. Josiah refuses to share the money. He makes a run for it, they catch him and beat him up.

	Radio announces that close run thing between Mabuki and Hope (not Matata!). The radio then announces KK is 4^th, Matata 3^rd, Mabuki 2^nd and Hope has won!
	Matata refuses to pay Snake for working for him.
	Mabuki is magnanimous to Hope in her victory. Karis tells Hope that he will fight her in the courts if she takes Diana away from him.
	KK tells Small Sharon that he’s leaving her. She’s devastated.
	Washington gives Pendo the doc’s trumpet which she had lost and he has found. She asks him how she can thank him – he invites her for a drink and she accepts.
	The barber boys and Josiah are in hospital having their wounds treated. Pendo comes in with the trumpet and Doc kisses her passionately when she says she’s off with Washington. Washington sees them kissing.
