Winston Mabuki is the owner of Mabuki's bar, a governor at the school and generally an upstanding member of the community. His son, Karis, couldn't be more different; his business deals are always underhand and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants, employing Snake, a former criminal, to do his dirty work. At the start of the series, Cheryl is his girlfriend, but how long it will last is anyone's guess.
