Mama Mboga

Mama Mboga works in the village market, selling vegetables – “Mboga” means vegetable in Ki-Swahili.

She is a real survivor, this one! She has had ten children over the years, not all of them still alive, and an abusive husband who she stands up to. She faces real tragedy in her life, but she still greets each day with a smile. She is down to earth, has no pretentions, but nor does she under value herself. She is a true gossip, forever involving herself in all local matters.

She is Margaret's best friend and is the first to find out that her close friend and confidante, Margaret, is HIV+. True to form, she stands by her friend and supports her through the dark times.
